World Environment Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and commitment across all St. Mary’s Schools in Nepal. The week-long observance aimed to create awareness among students, teachers, and local communities about the importance of protecting our environment and promoting sustainable living. Through prayer services, plantation drives, awareness programs, rallies, and educational activities, the schools united in their efforts to care for our common home and inspire environmental responsibility among young people.<\/p>

Plantation Drive in Community Forest<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

28 May 2026<\/strong><\/p>

As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, students and staff members of SMS Kathmandu<\/strong> und SMS Lubhu<\/strong> participated in a plantation program at the local Community Forest on 28 May 2026. Together, they planted 110 saplings<\/strong>, contributing to the conservation and greening of the area.<\/p>

The activity encouraged students to understand the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and combating climate change. Through their active participation, students experienced firsthand how small actions can make a positive difference to the environment.<\/p>

The plantation program served as a reminder that every tree planted today is an investment in a healthier and greener future.<\/p>

\u201cThe best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second-best time is now.\u201d<\/p>

Awareness Talk on Wildlife Conservation<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

4 June 2026 \u2013 SMS Kathmandu<\/strong><\/p>

On 4 June 2026, SMS Kathmandu<\/strong> organized an informative talk program on the theme \u201cWild Nepal.\u201d<\/strong> The session focused on creating awareness about Nepal\u2019s rich wildlife heritage and the importance of protecting animals and their natural habitats.<\/p>

Students learned about various endangered species found in Nepal, the challenges they face, and the role every individual can play in conserving biodiversity. The interactive session encouraged students to appreciate the interconnectedness of all living beings and the need to protect nature for future generations.<\/p>

The program successfully deepened students\u2019 understanding of environmental stewardship and inspired them to become advocates for wildlife conservation.<\/p>

World Environment Day Celebration<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

5 June 2026<\/strong><\/p>

SMS Kathmandu<\/strong><\/p>

World Environment Day was celebrated meaningfully at SMS Kathmandu through a series of educational and spiritual activities.<\/p>

The day began with a Prayer Service on Awakening Earth<\/strong>, prepared and conducted by the students. Through prayers, reflections, and songs, students expressed gratitude for the gifts of nature and reflected on their responsibility to care for the Earth.<\/p>

This was followed by an inspiring address by Principal Sr. Deepa CJ<\/strong>, who encouraged students to become environmentally conscious citizens and to adopt sustainable habits in their daily lives. She emphasized that caring for the environment is not only a social responsibility but also a moral commitment.<\/p>

A documentary on Climate Extremes and Extreme Weather<\/strong> was also screened for students. The documentary highlighted the growing environmental challenges faced around the world and helped students understand the urgent need for climate action. The screening generated meaningful discussions and encouraged students to reflect on their own role in protecting the environment.<\/p>

\u201cWe do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.\u201d<\/p>

SMS Pokhara<\/strong><\/p>

SMS Pokhara marked World Environment Day through community-oriented environmental activities.<\/p>

Students and staff participated in a plantation program and donated flower pots to members of the local community. This initiative promoted beautification of the surroundings and encouraged community participation in environmental conservation.<\/p>

Additionally, seed balls<\/strong> were distributed to all teachers and co-workers. The seed balls symbolized hope and growth, encouraging everyone to contribute to increasing green spaces in their homes and communities.<\/p>

The activities reflected the school’s commitment to spreading environmental awareness beyond the school campus and involving the wider community in caring for nature.<\/p>

\u201cSmall acts, when multiplied by many people, can transform the world.\u201d<\/p>

SMS Biratnagar<\/strong><\/p>

SMS Biratnagar observed the day with a special Prayer Service<\/strong>, followed by a Green Rally<\/strong> and a Street Play<\/strong>.<\/p>

The prayer service invited students and staff to reflect on the beauty of creation and the importance of environmental protection. During the Green Rally, students carried placards and shared messages promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices.<\/p>

The street play creatively highlighted environmental issues such as pollution, deforestation, and waste management. Through their performance, students conveyed powerful messages to the public and encouraged community members to take action for a cleaner and greener environment.<\/p>

The celebration demonstrated the students\u2019 creativity, commitment, and sense of responsibility toward environmental conservation.<\/p>

SMS Gorkha<\/strong><\/p>

SMS Gorkha celebrated World Environment Day with a meaningful Prayer Service, cultural performances, and a plantation programme. The students presented a drama and dance highlighting the importance of planting trees and preserving the environment, effectively conveying the message of environmental responsibility and sustainable living.<\/p>

The Prayer Service invited students and staff to reflect on the environment as a precious gift that must be protected and nurtured for future generations. Through prayers and reflections, participants renewed their commitment to caring for creation and promoting ecological awareness.<\/p>

Following the programme, students and staff actively participated in a plantation drive, planting saplings within the school premises and nearby areas. This hands-on activity reinforced the importance of environmental conservation and encouraged students to translate their learning into action.<\/p>

SMS Lobhu observed the day through a Prayer Service<\/strong>, an environmental Talk Program<\/strong>, and a Plantation Activity<\/strong>.<\/p>
