Las mujeres y los hombres evolucionaron desde habitantes de las cavernas hasta conquistadores del mundo. Gran parte del progreso humano se debe al desarrollo de la ciencia, la tecnolog\u00eda y la comunicaci\u00f3n. Pero a medida que pasaron los a\u00f1os, los hombres avanzaron y las mujeres se quedaron atr\u00e1s. Sin embargo, como \u00e9ste es uno de los temas desafiantes, es importante hablar y discutir sus posibles soluciones.<\/p>

Este a\u00f1o ONU Mujeres organiz\u00f3 un lugar seguro para que las defensoras de las ni\u00f1as de todo el mundo se reunieran para escucharse unas a otras y compartir sus perspectivas sobre los problemas actuales que enfrentan las ni\u00f1as y las mujeres. Como defensora de la juventud de Nepal, tuve la oportunidad de participar en el Ayuntamiento Global de Ni\u00f1as de la CSW67. Este encuentro fue una experiencia maravillosa para m\u00ed. Aprend\u00ed muchas cosas nuevas y escuch\u00e9 a muchas chicas y mujeres incre\u00edbles de todo el mundo. Discutieron c\u00f3mo la ausencia de tecnolog\u00eda est\u00e1 provocando que las mujeres de sus sociedades se queden atr\u00e1s en muchos campos STEM.<\/p>

En la reuni\u00f3n pude interactuar y compartir algunos de los desaf\u00edos y problemas que enfrenta una ni\u00f1a en mi comunidad. Tambi\u00e9n escuch\u00e9 muchas voces de otros pa\u00edses que compart\u00edan algunas de sus experiencias personales sobre la situaci\u00f3n de las mujeres en sus comunidades y c\u00f3mo los prejuicios de g\u00e9nero llevan a las mujeres a quedarse atr\u00e1s en diversos campos STEM. Una de las ni\u00f1as comparti\u00f3 que, por diversas razones, sus escuelas estaban cerradas y no pod\u00edan recibir educaci\u00f3n. Las clases solo se ofrec\u00edan en l\u00ednea, pero muchos ni\u00f1os de su zona carec\u00edan de acceso a Internet y de dispositivos digitales adecuados. Algunas familias que ten\u00edan los dispositivos prefer\u00edan que sus hijos asistieran a clases y lamentablemente muchas ni\u00f1as no pudieron acceder a la educaci\u00f3n.<\/p>

Esto me hizo darme cuenta de la verdadera causa de la falta de mujeres en los campos STEM. Adem\u00e1s de la brecha digital y la falta de financiaci\u00f3n adecuada, clases de alfabetizaci\u00f3n digital y oportunidades laborales, su propia comunidad tambi\u00e9n desalienta a las mujeres a estudiar STEM a pesar de que ten\u00edan acceso a la tecnolog\u00eda. Los prejuicios y estereotipos de g\u00e9nero tambi\u00e9n impiden que las ni\u00f1as sigan carreras y oportunidades STEM.<\/p>

En la reuni\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n se discutieron recomendaciones y soluciones. Los defensores de la juventud y las partes interesadas compartieron posibles soluciones para abordar la brecha digital de g\u00e9nero. Creo que una de las mejores recomendaciones es que el sector privado y las agencias de la ONU financien adecuadamente el desarrollo de infraestructura tecnol\u00f3gica en \u00e1reas rurales y que los gobiernos hagan de la educaci\u00f3n STEM equitativa y segura un derecho para las ni\u00f1as de todas las edades.<\/p>

Asistir a esta reuni\u00f3n me ayud\u00f3 a aprender m\u00e1s sobre los problemas sociales actuales y c\u00f3mo la tecnolog\u00eda puede desempe\u00f1ar un papel vital para empoderar y brindar oportunidades a ni\u00f1as y mujeres. Escuchar las voces y los poderosos discursos me inspir\u00f3 a continuar ayudando a las mujeres y ni\u00f1as de mi comunidad como defensora de la juventud. Mi m\u00e1s profundo agradecimiento a ONU Mujeres que organiz\u00f3 un lugar seguro para que ni\u00f1as como yo comparti\u00e9ramos nuestras voces y recomendaciones para resolver el problema de la brecha digital en el mundo.<\/p>
