En julio de este a\u00f1o, tres de nosotros, Giovanna Muha CJ, Sarah Rudolph IBVM y yo asistimos al HLPF en las Naciones Unidas. Entonces, \u00bfde qu\u00e9 se tratan estas siglas y este foro …?<\/p>

El Foro Pol\u00edtico de Alto Nivel de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Desarrollo Sostenible (HLPF) en 2023 se celebr\u00f3 del lunes 10 de julio al mi\u00e9rcoles 19 de julio de 2023, bajo los auspicios del Consejo Econ\u00f3mico y Social. Esto incluye el segmento ministerial de tres d\u00edas del foro del 17 al 19 de julio de 2023, como parte del segmento de alto nivel del Consejo. El \u00faltimo d\u00eda del Segmento de Alto Nivel del ECOSOC fue el jueves 20 de julio de 2023.<\/p>

El tema fue \u201cAcelerar la recuperaci\u00f3n de la enfermedad del coronavirus (COVID-19) y la plena implementaci\u00f3n de la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible en todos los niveles\u201d.<\/p>

Entonces, \u00bfqu\u00e9 es el FPAN? El Foro Pol\u00edtico de Alto Nivel de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Desarrollo Sostenible es el instrumento mediante el cual las Naciones Unidas revisan el progreso de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible 2030. Se celebra bajo los auspicios de la Comisi\u00f3n Econ\u00f3mica y Social. Los Estados miembros adoptan declaraciones negociadas, revisan los compromisos y los avances de la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible. El Foro reemplaz\u00f3 a la Comisi\u00f3n sobre Desarrollo Sostenible el 24 de septiembre de 2013.<\/p>

El FPAN de 2023 revis\u00f3 en profundidad los Objetivos 6 sobre agua limpia y saneamiento, 7 sobre energ\u00eda limpia y asequible, 9 sobre industria, innovaci\u00f3n e infraestructura, 11 sobre ciudades y comunidades sostenibles y 17 sobre asociaciones para los Objetivos.<\/p>

Entonces, como llegu\u00e9 y me reun\u00ed con nuestras Representantes de ONG ONU, Janet Palafox ibvm y Cynthia Mathew cj, una semana antes del Foro, pudimos programar reuniones con la Misi\u00f3n Permanente de nuestro propio pa\u00eds. Por supuesto, antes de llegar a Nueva York hab\u00eda estudiado el informe 365 del Gobierno irland\u00e9s. Era obvio que Irlanda realmente est\u00e1 progresando en todo el \u00e1mbito de los ODS. Sin embargo, hab\u00eda tres puntos que quer\u00eda plantear al gobierno irland\u00e9s.<\/p>

Logramos mantener una reuni\u00f3n muy informativa con el Representante Permanente de Irlanda ante las Naciones Unidas, el Embajador Fergal Mythen, en la que pude exponer mis preocupaciones. Antes de abandonar las discusiones de una hora, el Embajador acept\u00f3 una invitaci\u00f3n para visitar algunas de nuestras escuelas cuando regrese a Irlanda. El embajador Mythen tambi\u00e9n me invit\u00f3 a una reuni\u00f3n con ONG irlandesas que asist\u00edan al FPAN que se celebrar\u00eda la semana siguiente con nuestro ministro de Medio Ambiente y Transporte, Eamonn Ryan TD. Tambi\u00e9n fue un ejercicio muy productivo en el que Janet y yo conocimos a muchos irlandeses involucrados en los ODS, entre los que se encontraban j\u00f3venes involucrados en la presentaci\u00f3n de informes en las Naciones Unidas o trabajando all\u00ed como pasantes.<\/p>

Realmente me maravill\u00e9 cada d\u00eda mientras se llevaba a cabo el Foro y fuimos testigos de c\u00f3mo los distintos pa\u00edses informaban a los otros 197 pa\u00edses, un recuerdo inolvidable. Esperaba con ansias cada noche c\u00f3mo JCOR (Coalici\u00f3n de Religiosos por la Justicia) facilitaba que todos los religiosos se reunieran y compartieran su experiencia del d\u00eda. Este fue un momento muy enriquecedor porque conocimos a religiosos de todos los continentes y todos con un objetivo com\u00fan y personas con ideas afines.<\/p>

Todav\u00eda tengo la experiencia de tantos pa\u00edses reuni\u00e9ndose para promover el desarrollo de los ODS. Cuando la semana lleg\u00f3 a su fin, sent\u00ed por primera vez que entend\u00eda plenamente, en alg\u00fan nivel, de qu\u00e9 se tratan las Naciones Unidas. Tambi\u00e9n sent\u00ed un gran deseo de traer mi nueva comprensi\u00f3n y entusiasmo de regreso a Irlanda.<\/p>

Desde entonces he recibido noticias de que el Embajador Mythen nos visitar\u00e1 en octubre y estoy estableciendo contacto con aquellos interesados en involucrarse en las Sociedades Civiles. Ahora bien, ese es otro informe en cuanto a las nuevas conexiones y amistades formadas en Nueva York, bueno, eso tambi\u00e9n es para otro d\u00eda\u2026…<\/p>
