La pobreza se considera un fen\u00f3meno de g\u00e9nero con rostro femenino porque las mujeres caen primero en la pobreza, caen m\u00e1s profundamente y se recuperan \u00faltimas. Existe un c\u00edrculo vicioso de pobreza intergeneracional entre mujeres de todas las edades, un s\u00edntoma de injusticia sistem\u00e1tica exacerbada por las desventajas de raza, etnia, ubicaci\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica y creencias religiosas que afectan a las mujeres mental y f\u00edsicamente. Las estad\u00edsticas muestran el costo para la sociedad de la inacci\u00f3n respecto de las cuestiones de las adolescentes y las mujeres. Todav\u00eda se reconoce que la educaci\u00f3n es el medio m\u00e1s poderoso para igualar y transformar las relaciones de poder. Educar a las mujeres puede tener un enorme impacto econ\u00f3mico para la sociedad financieramente y en la salud de las generaciones futuras &#8230; \u201cLo que las personas lleguen a ser en su vejez depende de lo que suceda antes\u201d, dijo el Secretario General.<\/p><p>Escuchamos que \u201csuperar la brecha de la pobreza\u201d requiere abordar la \u201cpobreza de la vejez\u201d, la configuraci\u00f3n compleja y en constante cambio de las \u201cmujeres adultas que brindan cuidados\u201d, la trampa de la \u201cmadre soltera\u201d, las mujeres con discapacidades f\u00edsicas y mentales, las mujeres en relaciones abusivas, mujeres encarceladas y mujeres y ni\u00f1as que son v\u00edctimas de traficantes de personas.<\/p><p>Los representantes de los pa\u00edses informaron que ya se est\u00e1n produciendo los cambios necesarios para transformar radicalmente las familias, las comunidades y los pa\u00edses. Se est\u00e1 prestando atenci\u00f3n a institucionalizar la igualdad de g\u00e9nero en \u201cparlamentos sensibles al g\u00e9nero\u201d para incluir a las mujeres en la toma de decisiones al desarrollar pol\u00edticas y procedimientos. Abogaron por presupuestar a trav\u00e9s de una \u201clente sensible al g\u00e9nero\u201d y por dise\u00f1ar modelos econ\u00f3micos que sean sensibles al g\u00e9nero.<\/p><p>Igualmente importante fue el reconocimiento de la necesidad de dise\u00f1ar mecanismos para garantizar la implementaci\u00f3n de las leyes, establecer \u201cmarcadores\u201d que permitan medir el progreso identificando \u00e9xitos, fracasos y deficiencias, y dise\u00f1ar programas destinados a cambiar mentalidades y normas sociales.<\/p><p>La Santa Sede patrocin\u00f3 un poderoso taller sobre el impacto de la trata de personas en mujeres y ni\u00f1as. El arzobispo Gabriele Caccia, observador permanente de la Santa Sede, habl\u00f3 con pasi\u00f3n sobre el llamado del Papa Francisco a \u201cescuchar, ver y conmoverse para actuar\u201d. Denunci\u00f3 el hecho de que las mujeres y las ni\u00f1as sean vistas como objetos para ser usados y desechados y se refiri\u00f3 a la trata como \u201cla subyugaci\u00f3n de algunas para el enriquecimiento de otras\u201d. Todos los presentadores fueron excelentes. Compartiendo mejores pr\u00e1cticas y aprendizajes estuvieron organizaciones como el Grupo Santa Marta, ARISE, Talitha Kum, la Red Integrada Scalabrini y el Servicio de Polic\u00eda Nacional de Irlanda.
