El evento tambi\u00e9n conmemor\u00f3 el 30<sup>th<\/sup> aniversario del A\u00f1o Internacional de la Familia. Me sent\u00ed agradecida de asistir a las sesiones plenarias y eventos paralelos junto con la Hna. Janet Palafox IBVM y la Hna. Smitha Muthu CJ y experimentar el Convertirse en Uno del Instituto a trav\u00e9s de la Oficina de las Naciones Unidas.<\/p><p>Para m\u00ed era importante asistir al CSocD para promover los objetivos de educaci\u00f3n y promoci\u00f3n del Centro Mary Ward con respecto a los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de las Naciones Unidas y en relaci\u00f3n con nuestros proyectos con los j\u00f3venes, especialmente los j\u00f3venes reci\u00e9n llegados. Adem\u00e1s, el Centro Mary Ward patrocin\u00f3 la participaci\u00f3n de una representante juvenil, Brantella Williams, para asistir a una parte del CSocD y hablar en un evento paralelo patrocinado por la ONG IBVM-Loreto. Brantella, un defensor de la educaci\u00f3n para los reci\u00e9n llegados, habl\u00f3 sobre la importancia del estatus migratorio para los j\u00f3venes reci\u00e9n llegados y el acceso a la educaci\u00f3n, enfatizando la necesidad de un estatus de residente permanente para todos los reci\u00e9n llegados con un estatus migratorio precario como un medio para aliviar la pobreza. Brantella habl\u00f3 con pasi\u00f3n y autenticidad sobre la necesidad real en Canad\u00e1 de mejores pol\u00edticas para inmigrantes, refugiados y migrantes.<\/p><p>La presentaci\u00f3n de Brantella se hizo eco de los mensajes de otro evento paralelo al que asist\u00ed. <em>Desmercantilizar a las personas, el lugar y el planeta: pol\u00edticas transformadoras hacia la inclusi\u00f3n y la pertenencia incondicionales<\/em> patrocinado por varias ONG religiosas. El embajador de Irlanda ante la ONU, Fergal Mythen, argument\u00f3 que las crisis interrelacionadas de pobreza, falta de vivienda, vivienda y educaci\u00f3n no ocurren en el vac\u00edo; m\u00e1s bien, son el resultado de decisiones pol\u00edticas y acciones humanas. Juntos, nos reunimos con un funcionario del departamento de Empleo y Desarrollo Social de Canad\u00e1 para discutir nuevas posibilidades de participaci\u00f3n de los j\u00f3venes en los ODS y las iniciativas federales de promoci\u00f3n.
