El 10 de diciembre organizamos un seminario web junto con algunos miembros de nuestra Red contra la Trata de Personas sobre la cuesti\u00f3n de la migraci\u00f3n ante el aumento de las actividades delictivas en materia de trata de personas, tr\u00e1fico de personas y explotaci\u00f3n laboral. La Red contra la Trata de Personas era un grupo de apoyo para los miembros de IBVM Loreto y la Congregaci\u00f3n de Jes\u00fas que han estado apoyando y protegiendo a las v\u00edctimas y sobrevivientes de la trata de personas en sus pa\u00edses y se re\u00fanen regularmente para compartir informaci\u00f3n, mejores pr\u00e1cticas, desaf\u00edos y encontrar posibilidades para abogar juntos.<\/p>

El seminario web se llev\u00f3 a cabo para fomentar el di\u00e1logo sobre los esfuerzos globales del IBVM y CJ para apoyar y proteger a los refugiados, migrantes y sobrevivientes de la trata de personas. Los oradores compartieron acciones y estrategias positivas que est\u00e1n implementando actualmente para proteger a las personas vulnerables, especialmente a los migrantes y refugiados, de caer presas de los traficantes y contrabandistas de personas. Hacia el final, los participantes identificaron \u00e1reas en las que se necesitan m\u00e1s refuerzos y acciones para prevenir la explotaci\u00f3n y garantizar una protecci\u00f3n m\u00e1s s\u00f3lida para las personas en riesgo.<\/p>

La primera oradora fue Liliana Sorrentino, oficial jur\u00eddica del ACNUR (Agencia de la ONU para los Refugiados). Habl\u00f3 sobre la perspectiva de la protecci\u00f3n de los refugiados y analiz\u00f3 c\u00f3mo el desplazamiento exacerba los riesgos de trata y otros abusos graves durante el tr\u00e1fico de personas. Liliana tambi\u00e9n comparti\u00f3 estad\u00edsticas actuales sobre 122 millones de personas desplazadas por la fuerza, de las cuales 44 millones son refugiados. La mayor preocupaci\u00f3n fue que el n\u00famero de ni\u00f1os se ha duplicado en comparaci\u00f3n con los cinco a\u00f1os anteriores y que el 40,1% de las personas desplazadas son ni\u00f1os. <\/p>

Los ni\u00f1os, las mujeres y las ni\u00f1as, las personas con discapacidad, los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y las personas de g\u00e9nero diverso corren un mayor riesgo de ser v\u00edctimas de trata o explotaci\u00f3n. Liliana tambi\u00e9n destac\u00f3 el hecho de que cuanto m\u00e1s restrictivas sean las fronteras de entrada de otros pa\u00edses, m\u00e1s vulnerables son quienes se ven obligados a desplazarse a manos de los contrabandistas y traficantes. Esto es algo en lo que debemos pensar cuando la protecci\u00f3n de las fronteras se convierte en una cuesti\u00f3n pol\u00edtica, especialmente en los pa\u00edses del norte global.<\/p>

Los ponentes de la red IBVM\/CJ fueron:<\/p>

  • Jackline Wongela IBVM habl\u00f3 sobre la situaci\u00f3n de los migrantes y refugiados en \u00c1frica Oriental y los programas que ejecutan en Kangemi.<\/li>
  • Nabanita Shome, del Servicio Social Mary Ward de Calcuta, y Ancy Thomas CJ, de la provincia de Patna, ofrecieron una visi\u00f3n general de la situaci\u00f3n de los migrantes en la India y los desaf\u00edos que enfrentan la poblaci\u00f3n y los gobiernos para abordar el problema de la trata de personas y el trabajo en condiciones de servidumbre. Destacaron la importancia de educar a la poblaci\u00f3n sobre los peligros y sus derechos.<\/li>
  • La Hermana Imelda Poole IBVM y la Hermana Judith Knabb CJ hablaron sobre la situaci\u00f3n en el Reino Unido, Hungr\u00eda y Albania. Compartieron que ahora tambi\u00e9n hay personas que son v\u00edctimas de trata que provienen de China, Filipinas y Camer\u00fan. Imelda destac\u00f3 que Albania, que antes era un pa\u00eds de origen, se ha convertido en un pa\u00eds de destino para estas personas. Tanto Judith como Imelda hablaron sobre los programas que tienen para apoyar y proteger a los sobrevivientes. <\/li>
  • Eva Rodrigues Diaz del Centro Mary Ward de Toronto habl\u00f3 sobre el programa de radio \u201cAcabar con la trata de personas: un compromiso de todos\u201d, una estrategia de educaci\u00f3n popular para la prevenci\u00f3n de la trata en Canad\u00e1 y Am\u00e9rica Latina. El programa tambi\u00e9n aborda el tema de la desinformaci\u00f3n y la informaci\u00f3n err\u00f3nea, brindando informaci\u00f3n a las personas que tal vez est\u00e9n considerando viajar a Am\u00e9rica del Norte desde Am\u00e9rica Latina a trav\u00e9s del Tap\u00f3n del Dari\u00e9n.<\/li>
  • Marta Santos, actual Representante Provincial de la ONU para Espa\u00f1a, nos representa en la Alianza de ONG para la Prevenci\u00f3n del Delito y la Justicia Penal. Marta comparti\u00f3 su experiencia al asistir al Di\u00e1logo Constructivo sobre la Trata de Personas organizado por la Oficina de las Naciones Unidas contra la Droga y el Delito. Comparti\u00f3 informaci\u00f3n sobre el proceso del Mecanismo de Revisi\u00f3n del Protocolo de Palermo y las Gu\u00edas y recursos en l\u00ednea que las ONG pueden utilizar para participar en la revisi\u00f3n.<\/li><\/ul>
