Cuando piensas en las Naciones Unidas, es dif\u00edcil evocar una imagen mental de qu\u00e9 es exactamente lo que sucede dentro de esos muros de piedra del escultural edificio de la 1\u00aa avenida. No importa cu\u00e1nta investigaci\u00f3n hice sobre la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible, no importa cu\u00e1ntos videos de YouTube vi sobre los acontecimientos internos de las Naciones Unidas, nada podr\u00eda haberme preparado para la primera semana de mi pasant\u00eda all\u00ed.<\/p>

Mi nombre es Agnes O'Dwyer y soy una estudiante australiana que realiza una pasant\u00eda para la ONG IBVM asociada con las Naciones Unidas. Esto significa que durante el verano, tengo acceso a muchas de las conferencias y eventos que se llevan a cabo en la ONU y sus alrededores, as\u00ed como una oportunidad para expresar mis propias ideas en paneles interactivos y reunirme con personas extremadamente influyentes.<\/p>

\u00a1Qu\u00e9 oportunidad! \u00a1A veces necesito pellizcarme!<\/p>

Parec\u00eda que el vuelo de 13 horas desde Sydney a Nueva York permiti\u00f3 que mi imaginaci\u00f3n se volviera un poco loca con lo que pod\u00eda esperar de esta pasant\u00eda. Ansiosamente me convenc\u00ed a m\u00ed mismo de que no estaba lo suficientemente calificado o estimado para estar siquiera dentro de los l\u00edmites del edificio de la ONU. Pero tan pronto como aterric\u00e9 en el aeropuerto de Newark, me vi envuelto pr\u00e1cticamente en uno de los eventos m\u00e1s fren\u00e9ticos celebrados en las Naciones Unidas: el Foro Pol\u00edtico de Alto Nivel.<\/p>

Aunque el nombre es menos que pegadizo, el HLPF ha sido una semana trepidante y media de oradores apasionados de todo el mundo, que han compartido historias reveladoras sobre c\u00f3mo su naci\u00f3n est\u00e1 logrando los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible, as\u00ed como sobre los lugares en los que su pa\u00eds lo necesita. de ayuda o mejora.<\/p>

Mi funci\u00f3n era asistir a estas fascinantes conferencias y eventos paralelos, tomar notas, fotos o videos y transmitir puntos importantes al equipo de IBVM. Luego asum\u00ed un trabajo adicional de comunicaci\u00f3n con la secta de Grupos Principales y otras partes interesadas del HLPF, ya que esto funcionaba como la plataforma para todas las ONG en el sistema de las Naciones Unidas. Publiqu\u00e9 puntos importantes de los procedimientos de cada d\u00eda en nombre de estos grupos principales para aumentar la conciencia. Los puntos importantes variaron desde datos estad\u00edsticos, ideas innovadoras, llamadas a la acci\u00f3n de la sociedad civil, citas de empoderamiento y esperanzas y revisiones de los avances.<\/p>

Las conclusiones clave del HLPF fueron que las naciones que integraron los ODS en sus pol\u00edticas eran las naciones que m\u00e1s estaban progresando en la igualdad de g\u00e9nero, la educaci\u00f3n y la eliminaci\u00f3n de la pobreza.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Adem\u00e1s, los pa\u00edses que fomentaron la participaci\u00f3n y el aporte de los j\u00f3venes en la creaci\u00f3n e implementaci\u00f3n de estas pol\u00edticas ten\u00edan m\u00e1s probabilidades de tener un plan de acci\u00f3n diverso e inclusivo que llegue a los grupos vulnerables de la sociedad.<\/p>

Un tema de tendencia en el HLPF de este a\u00f1o fue la necesidad de datos medibles y cuantificables tanto de los estados como de las ONG. Parece que muchos grupos se est\u00e1n quedando atr\u00e1s, simplemente porque no se cuentan en los datos, o porque el sistema de medici\u00f3n no es suficiente. Este a\u00f1o marc\u00f3 un fuerte movimiento m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la simple medici\u00f3n de los ingresos como indicador de pobreza. En cambio, hay un impulso hacia un \u00cdndice de Pobreza Multidimensional (IPM), que toma la educaci\u00f3n, la inclusi\u00f3n social, la salud p\u00fablica y mucho m\u00e1s como otros modos de medir la riqueza o las privaciones.<\/p>

Desde entonces, ha habido un gran impulso hacia la formaci\u00f3n y el desarrollo de capacidades de los j\u00f3venes en el campo de la recopilaci\u00f3n y el an\u00e1lisis de datos.<\/p>

La educaci\u00f3n ha sido, y siempre ser\u00e1, una de las principales prioridades en todo el mundo, pero a menudo es pasada por alto por aquellos que han crecido en una sociedad donde se espera que uno complete la escuela secundaria como m\u00ednimo. Durante estas extensas 2 semanas me di cuenta de lo privilegiado que hab\u00eda sido en mi desarrollo.<\/p>

Fui educada dentro de una Instituci\u00f3n Loreto que me ense\u00f1\u00f3 mis derechos como mujer y sobre el trabajo que las Naciones Unidas han estado haciendo durante d\u00e9cadas para lograr la paz mundial. Esta influencia positiva es vital para la perpetuaci\u00f3n de los ODS.<\/p>

Poder ver c\u00f3mo los pa\u00edses en desarrollo est\u00e1n luchando con problemas de educaci\u00f3n, igualdad de g\u00e9nero y pobreza ha sido realmente inspirador y brinda la esperanza global de que para 2030, el mundo ser\u00e1 un lugar pr\u00f3spero para vivir.<\/p>
