Es la primera vez que una de las Comisiones del ECOSOC aborda el problema de las personas sin hogar. El tema prioritario de &#8220;Viviendas asequibles y sistemas de protecci\u00f3n social para todos para abordar la falta de vivienda&#8221; reconoce que la falta de vivienda afecta a todos los pa\u00edses, tanto del Norte como del Sur Global. La declaraci\u00f3n de la Sociedad Civil afirma que un hogar seguro es la base de toda necesidad humana.
