Ocho estudiantes y su maestro del Convento Msongari de Loreto visitaron la oficina de la ONG de la ONU despu\u00e9s de participar en el Torneo de Campeones de la Copa Mundial de Acad\u00e9micos en la Universidad de Yale en noviembre. Loreto Convent Msongari ha estado participando en este evento desde 2017. La World Scholar’s Cup es un programa acad\u00e9mico anual por equipos internacionales en el que participan estudiantes de m\u00e1s de 65 pa\u00edses. Cuarenta estudiantes participaron a nivel regional, de los cuales ocho avanzaron a la Ronda Global en Bangkok, Tailandia. Con el apoyo dedicado de los padres y la escuela, el equipo se clasific\u00f3 para participar en el nivel final: el Torneo de Campeones del 11 al 16 de noviembre de 2022.<\/p>

Vinieron a Nueva York en su \u00faltimo d\u00eda para visitar las Naciones Unidas y nuestra oficina. Organizamos para que los estudiantes y su maestro visitaran la Misi\u00f3n Permanente de Kenia ante las Naciones Unidas y realizaran un recorrido por la sede de la ONU. Se reunieron con el Embajador Adjunto Michael Kiboino, el Agregado de Educaci\u00f3n Andrew Buop y otro personal de la Misi\u00f3n. Los estudiantes tuvieron una animada conversaci\u00f3n con el Embajador Adjunto y otro personal sobre su trabajo en la ONU y c\u00f3mo podr\u00edan ser parte de este trabajo.<\/p>

Los estudiantes apreciaron esta experiencia de la ONU que complement\u00f3 las habilidades que adquirieron de la actividad acad\u00e9mica de la Copa Mundial de Acad\u00e9micos que incluyeron habilidades de escritura, investigaci\u00f3n, an\u00e1lisis, evaluaci\u00f3n, orales y de debate. Las mismas habilidades que se requieren para hacer incidencia en la ONU. Desde entonces, dos de los estudiantes del grupo se han unido al Programa de Defensa Juvenil de Mary Ward y uno de ellos facilita un grupo que est\u00e1 escribiendo la declaraci\u00f3n oral que se presentar\u00e1 en la 67.\u00aa sesi\u00f3n de la Comisi\u00f3n de la Condici\u00f3n Jur\u00eddica y Social de la Mujer en marzo de 2023.<\/p>
