L&#039;ATD Quart Monde accueille traditionnellement l&#039;\u00e9v\u00e9nement officiel au si\u00e8ge des Nations Unies, mettant en lumi\u00e8re des th\u00e8mes critiques. Cette ann\u00e9e, l&#039;accent a \u00e9t\u00e9 mis sur &#8220;Travail d\u00e9cent et protection sociale\u00a0: mettre la dignit\u00e9 en pratique pour tous.&#8221;<\/p><p>Un d\u00e9fi important dans la lutte contre la pauvret\u00e9 r\u00e9side dans le sort de ceux qui travaillent dans l\u2019\u00e9conomie informelle. Ces personnes, vivant souvent dans une extr\u00eame pauvret\u00e9, travaillent souvent sans \u00eatre d\u00e9clar\u00e9es et ne b\u00e9n\u00e9ficient pas de la protection de la r\u00e9glementation du travail. Par cons\u00e9quent, ils subissent des conditions de travail abusives et des salaires insuffisants. Les estimations de l\u2019Organisation internationale du travail (OIT) r\u00e9v\u00e8lent que plus de deux milliards de personnes, soit pr\u00e8s des deux tiers de la population active mondiale, entrent dans cette cat\u00e9gorie. Des r\u00e9gions comme l\u2019Am\u00e9rique latine et l\u2019Afrique subsaharienne pr\u00e9sentent des niveaux d\u2019informalit\u00e9 particuli\u00e8rement \u00e9lev\u00e9s.<\/p><p>Les migrants sans papiers et les plus marginalis\u00e9s sont confront\u00e9s \u00e0 des d\u00e9fis analogues, m\u00eame dans les pays dot\u00e9s d&#039;une l\u00e9gislation du travail solide. Leur manque de papiers officiels les rend susceptibles d\u2019\u00eatre exploit\u00e9s par les employeurs, les soumettant \u00e0 de maigres salaires et \u00e0 un manque d\u2019avantages sociaux.<\/p><p>Les t\u00e9moignages de diverses personnes ont mis en lumi\u00e8re la dure r\u00e9alit\u00e9 des conditions de travail inacceptables, attribu\u00e9es \u00e0 la faiblesse des lois du travail ou au laxisme de leur application par les gouvernements. Les r\u00e9cits des migrants sans papiers ont mis en lumi\u00e8re leurs exp\u00e9riences avec des employeurs abusifs, soulignant les vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9s auxquelles ils sont confront\u00e9s.<\/p><p>Des statistiques alarmantes des Nations Unies en 2020 ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que plus de la moiti\u00e9 de la population mondiale n\u2019avait acc\u00e8s \u00e0 aucune forme de protection sociale. La fourniture d\u2019un travail d\u00e9cent et d\u2019une protection sociale est imp\u00e9rative, car elle permet non seulement aux individus de r\u00e9aliser leur plein potentiel, mais encourage \u00e9galement une plus grande contribution \u00e0 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9. En revanche, l\u2019absence de conditions de travail ad\u00e9quates et de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 sociale exacerbe l\u2019ins\u00e9curit\u00e9, en particulier pour ceux qui sont pris au pi\u00e8ge d\u2019une pauvret\u00e9 persistante.
