Je suis actuellement \u00e9tudiant au couvent Loreto de Msongari et \u00e9galement d\u00e9fenseur de la jeunesse de l'ONG de l'Institut de la Bienheureuse Vierge Marie (IBVM). Je me suis retrouv\u00e9 \u00e0 la Conf\u00e9rence de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 civile des Nations Unies lorsque, avec mon ami Keendi et mon enseignante, Mme Phylice Nyabate, j'ai \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9 par notre directeur \u00e0 repr\u00e9senter l'ONG IBVM \u00e0 la conf\u00e9rence. J\u2019\u00e9tais vraiment excit\u00e9 d\u2019avoir une si belle opportunit\u00e9 que j\u2019ai eu du mal \u00e0 dormir cette nuit-l\u00e0.<\/p>

Quand je suis arriv\u00e9 au si\u00e8ge des Nations Unies \u00e0 Gigiri, j'\u00e9tais un peu terrifi\u00e9 car je ne m'attendais pas \u00e0 trouver autant de monde \u00e0 la conf\u00e9rence. Cependant, apr\u00e8s avoir partag\u00e9 mes points de vue et vu comment les gens se battaient librement pour leurs droits, je me suis finalement adapt\u00e9 et toute peur a disparu. Cela nous a vraiment motiv\u00e9, mes pairs et moi-m\u00eame, \u00e0 nous lever et \u00e0 d\u00e9fendre nos droits, surtout apr\u00e8s avoir vu des gens d\u00e9fendre avec audace les droits des jeunes et des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations futures. Cela m\u2019a assur\u00e9 que mon avenir et celui d\u2019autres jeunes comme moi \u00e9taient s\u00fbrs. J'ai aussi d\u00e9couvert les diff\u00e9rents probl\u00e8mes auxquels les gens sont confront\u00e9s partout dans le monde, ce qui m'a m\u00eame fait verser une larme, notamment la situation au Congo avec tout le g\u00e9nocide en cours.<\/p>

J'ai eu l'honneur d'assister \u00e0 une r\u00e9union avec la Directrice ex\u00e9cutive adjointe d'ONU Femmes, Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda, au cours de laquelle nous avons discut\u00e9 de certaines questions concernant les probl\u00e8mes auxquels les femmes et les jeunes filles sont confront\u00e9es dans le monde entier. J'ai pu prononcer un bref discours sur la violence bas\u00e9e sur le genre, dans lequel j'ai soulign\u00e9 certaines de ses causes, comme les croyances culturelles qui font souffrir en silence la plupart des femmes.<\/p>

J'ai \u00e9galement rejoint certains groupes de coalition. L'un d'eux concernait les droits et la participation des enfants, o\u00f9 nous avons eu une discussion sur la capacit\u00e9 des enfants \u00e0 d\u00e9fendre leurs droits et \u00e0 ne pas \u00eatre compromis. Un autre th\u00e8me \u00e9tait la politique en mati\u00e8re de drogues pour l'avenir, o\u00f9 nous avons discut\u00e9 de la mani\u00e8re de mettre fin \u00e0 l'abus des drogues. Nous avons r\u00e9alis\u00e9 que le meilleur moyen d\u2019y parvenir \u00e9tait de financer l\u2019\u00e9ducation sur les effets de l\u2019abus de drogues. En effet, il co\u00fbte moins cher de sensibiliser l\u2019opinion que de gu\u00e9rir ceux qui sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 touch\u00e9s par la toxicomanie.<\/p>

Ce que j\u2019ai retenu de la conf\u00e9rence, c\u2019est que \u00ab l\u2019\u00e9nergie, la cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9 et l\u2019id\u00e9alisme des jeunes ont le potentiel de cultiver un avenir meilleur \u00bb. Cependant, ils sont confront\u00e9s \u00e0 un ensemble d\u2019obstacles qui menacent leur croissance, notamment en ce qui concerne l\u2019acc\u00e8s aux opportunit\u00e9s.<\/p>

Malheureusement, la conf\u00e9rence a d\u00fb prendre fin. Le Pr\u00e9sident du Kenya, Son Excellence William Samoei Ruto a pu assister \u00e0 la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de cl\u00f4ture o\u00f9 il nous a gratifi\u00e9 d'un magnifique discours. Ensuite, j\u2019ai d\u00fb me pr\u00e9cipiter \u00e0 l\u2019a\u00e9roport pour \u00e9viter de rater mon vol de retour, car je devais me pr\u00e9parer pour l\u2019\u00e9cole qui \u00e9tait sur le point de rouvrir.<\/p>

Je suis ravi de dire avec fiert\u00e9 que mon exp\u00e9rience \u00e0 la Conf\u00e9rence de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 civile des Nations Unies a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s agr\u00e9able et sans aucun doute, j'aimerais assister \u00e0 une autre si j'en avais l'occasion.<\/p>
