Quand on pense aux Nations Unies, il est difficile d\u2019imaginer mentalement ce qui se passe exactement entre les murs de pierre du b\u00e2timent sculptural de la 1\u00e8re avenue. Peu importe les recherches que j'ai effectu\u00e9es sur l'Agenda 2030 de d\u00e9veloppement durable, peu importe le nombre de vid\u00e9os YouTube que j'ai regard\u00e9es sur les \u00e9v\u00e9nements internes des Nations Unies, rien n'aurait pu me pr\u00e9parer \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re semaine de mon stage l\u00e0-bas.<\/p>

Je m'appelle Agnes O'Dwyer et je suis une \u00e9tudiante australienne stagiaire pour l'ONG IBVM associ\u00e9e aux Nations Unies. Cela signifie que pendant l'\u00e9t\u00e9, j'ai acc\u00e8s \u00e0 de nombreuses conf\u00e9rences et \u00e9v\u00e9nements organis\u00e9s au sein et autour de l'ONU, ainsi que la possibilit\u00e9 d'exprimer mes propres id\u00e9es au sein de panels interactifs et de rencontrer des personnes extr\u00eamement influentes.<\/p>

Quelle opportunit\u00e9\u00a0-\u00a0Parfois, j'ai besoin de me pincer\u00a0!<\/p>

Il semblait que le vol de 13 heures de Sydney \u00e0 New York avait permis \u00e0 mon imagination de se d\u00e9cha\u00eener pour savoir \u00e0 quoi s'attendre de ce stage. Je me suis convaincu avec anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 que je n'\u00e9tais pas suffisamment qualifi\u00e9 ou estim\u00e9 pour m\u00eame me trouver dans les limites du b\u00e2timent de l'ONU. Mais d\u00e8s mon atterrissage \u00e0 l\u2019a\u00e9roport de Newark, j\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 pratiquement plong\u00e9 dans l\u2019un des \u00e9v\u00e9nements les plus mouvement\u00e9s organis\u00e9s aux Nations Unies : le Forum politique de haut niveau.<\/p>

Bien que le nom soit loin d'\u00eatre accrocheur, le HLPF a \u00e9t\u00e9 une semaine et demie mouvement\u00e9e d'orateurs passionn\u00e9s du monde entier, partageant des histoires r\u00e9v\u00e9latrices sur la mani\u00e8re dont leur pays atteint les objectifs de d\u00e9veloppement durable, ainsi que sur les domaines dans lesquels leur pays en a besoin. d'aide ou d'am\u00e9lioration.<\/p>

Mon r\u00f4le \u00e9tait d'assister \u00e0 ces conf\u00e9rences et \u00e9v\u00e9nements parall\u00e8les fascinants, de prendre des notes, des photos ou des vid\u00e9os et de relayer les points importants \u00e0 l'\u00e9quipe IBVM. J'ai ensuite entrepris un travail de communication suppl\u00e9mentaire avec les grands groupes et autres parties prenantes du HLPF, car celui-ci servait de plate-forme pour toutes les ONG du syst\u00e8me des Nations Unies. J'ai publi\u00e9 des points importants des d\u00e9bats de chaque jour au nom de ces grands groupes pour accro\u00eetre la sensibilisation. Les points importants variaient de donn\u00e9es statistiques, d'id\u00e9es innovantes, d'appels \u00e0 l'action de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 civile, de citations encourageantes et pleines d'espoir et d'examens des progr\u00e8s.<\/p>

Les principaux enseignements du HLPF \u00e9taient que les pays qui ont int\u00e9gr\u00e9 les ODD dans leurs politiques \u00e9taient ceux qui progressaient le plus en mati\u00e8re d\u2019\u00e9galit\u00e9 des sexes, d\u2019\u00e9ducation et d\u2019\u00e9limination de la pauvret\u00e9.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

De plus, les pays qui encourageaient la participation et la contribution des jeunes \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation et \u00e0 la mise en \u0153uvre de ces politiques \u00e9taient plus susceptibles d'avoir un plan d'action diversifi\u00e9 et inclusif qui atteint les groupes vuln\u00e9rables de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/p>

Un sujet tendance lors du HLPF de cette ann\u00e9e \u00e9tait la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de disposer de donn\u00e9es mesurables et quantifiables provenant des \u00c9tats ainsi que des ONG. Il semble que de nombreux groupes soient laiss\u00e9s pour compte, simplement parce qu\u2019ils ne sont pas pris en compte dans les donn\u00e9es ou que le syst\u00e8me de mesure n\u2019est pas suffisant. Cette ann\u00e9e a marqu\u00e9 un mouvement fort au-del\u00e0 de la simple mesure du revenu comme indicateur de pauvret\u00e9. Au lieu de cela, on s\u2019oriente vers un indice de pauvret\u00e9 multidimensionnelle (IPM), qui prend l\u2019\u00e9ducation, l\u2019inclusion sociale, la sant\u00e9 publique et bien plus encore comme d\u2019autres modes de mesure de la richesse ou du d\u00e9nuement.<\/p>

Depuis, de grands efforts ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s en faveur de la formation et du renforcement des capacit\u00e9s des jeunes dans le domaine de la collecte et de l\u2019analyse de donn\u00e9es.<\/p>

L'\u00e9ducation a \u00e9t\u00e9 et sera toujours une priorit\u00e9 absolue dans le monde entier, mais elle est souvent n\u00e9glig\u00e9e par ceux qui ont grandi dans une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 o\u00f9 l'on s'attend \u00e0 ce que l'on termine au moins ses \u00e9tudes secondaires. J'ai r\u00e9alis\u00e9 au cours de ces 2 semaines \u00e0 quel point j'\u00e9tais privil\u00e9gi\u00e9 dans mon d\u00e9veloppement.<\/p>

J'ai fait mes \u00e9tudes au sein d'une institution de Loreto qui m'a appris mes droits en tant que femme et le travail accompli par les Nations Unies au fil des d\u00e9cennies pour parvenir \u00e0 la paix mondiale. Cette influence positive est vitale pour la perp\u00e9tuation des ODD.<\/p>

\u00catre capable de voir comment les pays en d\u00e9veloppement sont aux prises avec les probl\u00e8mes d'\u00e9ducation, d'\u00e9galit\u00e9 des sexes et de pauvret\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 une v\u00e9ritable source d'inspiration et donne l'espoir au monde entier que d'ici 2030, le monde sera un endroit prosp\u00e8re o\u00f9 vivre.<\/p>
