La conf\u00e9rence de cette ann\u00e9e a \u00e9t\u00e9 organis\u00e9e par le Portugal et le Kenya. Kathryn a rejoint un large contingent d&#039;ONG confessionnelles militant pour l&#039;interdiction de l&#039;exploitation mini\u00e8re des fonds marins et la protection des petites nations insulaires.<\/p><p>Elle a assist\u00e9 \u00e0 la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie d&#039;ouverture et aux r\u00e9unions chaque jour de 22h \u00e0 15h. Kathryn a rencontr\u00e9 un certain nombre de personnes qui semblent avoir un lien avec l&#039;IBVM (Loreto Sisters). Mais ce sont les r\u00e9unions et les \u00e9v\u00e9nements organis\u00e9s par les ONG confessionnelles qui ont eu un impact sur elle. Le panel \u00e9tait compos\u00e9 d&#039;Autochtones et de personnes travaillant avec les personnes les plus touch\u00e9es par le changement climatique.<\/p><p>Catherine \u00e9crit :\u00a0<em>La r\u00e9union contrastait fortement avec les autres r\u00e9unions au cours desquelles les d\u00e9cideurs politiques faisaient des d\u00e9clarations et des promesses. Ces gens ont parl\u00e9 avec leur c\u0153ur en d\u00e9crivant l\u2019oc\u00e9an comme leur sang. Chacun a racont\u00e9 sa propre histoire sur la trag\u00e9die de la pollution des oc\u00e9ans et ses r\u00e9percussions. Chaque histoire \u00e9tait diff\u00e9rente mais ce qu&#039;elles avaient en commun c&#039;\u00e9tait l&#039;\u00e9motion, et m\u00eame les larmes, qui coulaient au fur et \u00e0 mesure que chacun parlait. Ils \u00e9taient particuli\u00e8rement protecteurs envers leurs propres petites \u00eeles. On nous a rappel\u00e9 que l\u2019exploitation mini\u00e8re en haute mer d\u00e9truit les moyens de subsistance de nombreuses personnes vuln\u00e9rables.<\/em><\/p><p><em>Il y avait une pri\u00e8re au d\u00e9but. C\u2019\u00e9tait la premi\u00e8re fois qu\u2019il y avait une quelconque contribution spirituelle. Lorsque l&#039;archev\u00eaque a pris la parole, il \u00e9tait lui aussi tr\u00e8s \u00e9mu, mais il a parl\u00e9 avec fermet\u00e9 de la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d&#039;un langage de la spiritualit\u00e9 ainsi que d&#039;un langage de la science. L\u2019exploitation mini\u00e8re en haute mer d\u00e9truit notre Terre. L&#039;archev\u00eaque a mis l&#039;accent sur le langage spirituel et le langage des nations autochtones.<\/em><\/p><p><em>Parmi les autres questions cl\u00e9s qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 soulign\u00e9es tout au long de la semaine, citons : la pollution des oc\u00e9ans, l&#039;utilisation persistante de combustibles fossiles et l&#039;utilisation abusive du plastique. Les solutions propos\u00e9es comprenaient la \u00ab culture oc\u00e9anique \u00bb, la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d&#039;une plus grande sensibilisation dans les \u00e9coles au probl\u00e8me de la protection des oc\u00e9ans. Mieux rechercher et corriger les informations et les donn\u00e9es afin que les scientifiques et autres puissent identifier les probl\u00e8mes et en particulier les activit\u00e9s ill\u00e9gales.
