Mulheres e homens evolu\u00edram de habitantes das cavernas a conquistadores do mundo. Grande parte do progresso humano se deve ao desenvolvimento da ci\u00eancia, tecnologia e comunica\u00e7\u00e3o. Mas com o passar dos anos, os homens avan\u00e7aram e as mulheres ficaram para tr\u00e1s. No entanto, como esta \u00e9 uma das quest\u00f5es desafiadoras, \u00e9 importante que se fale e discuta as suas poss\u00edveis solu\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>

Este ano, a ONU Mulheres organizou um local seguro para os defensores das raparigas de todo o mundo se reunirem para ouvirem uns aos outros e partilharem as suas perspectivas sobre os problemas actuais enfrentados pelas raparigas e mulheres. Como defensora da juventude do Nepal, tive a oportunidade de participar no CSW67 Global Girls Townhall. Esse encontro foi uma experi\u00eancia maravilhosa para mim. Aprendi muitas coisas novas e ouvi muitas meninas e mulheres incr\u00edveis de todo o mundo. Eles discutiram como a aus\u00eancia de tecnologia est\u00e1 fazendo com que as mulheres em suas sociedades sejam deixadas para tr\u00e1s em muitas \u00e1reas STEM.<\/p>

Na reuni\u00e3o pude interagir e compartilhar alguns dos desafios e problemas que uma menina enfrenta na minha comunidade. Tamb\u00e9m ouvi muitas vozes de outros pa\u00edses partilhando algumas das suas experi\u00eancias pessoais sobre o estatuto das mulheres nas suas comunidades e como os preconceitos de g\u00e9nero levam as mulheres a ficarem para tr\u00e1s em v\u00e1rios campos STEM. Uma das raparigas partilhou que, devido a v\u00e1rios motivos, as suas escolas foram fechadas e elas n\u00e3o conseguiram obter educa\u00e7\u00e3o. As aulas eram oferecidas apenas on-line, mas muitas crian\u00e7as em sua regi\u00e3o n\u00e3o tinham acesso \u00e0 Internet e dispositivos digitais adequados. Algumas fam\u00edlias que tinham os dispositivos preferiam que os seus filhos frequentassem as aulas e, infelizmente, muitas raparigas n\u00e3o conseguiam ter acesso \u00e0 educa\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>

Isso me fez perceber a verdadeira causa da falta de mulheres nas \u00e1reas STEM. Al\u00e9m da exclus\u00e3o digital e da falta de financiamento adequado, de aulas de alfabetiza\u00e7\u00e3o digital e de oportunidades de emprego, as mulheres tamb\u00e9m s\u00e3o desencorajadas pela sua pr\u00f3pria comunidade a estudar STEM, apesar de terem acesso \u00e0 tecnologia. Os preconceitos e estere\u00f3tipos de g\u00e9nero tamb\u00e9m impedem as raparigas de seguirem carreiras e oportunidades em STEM.<\/p>

A reuni\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m discutiu recomenda\u00e7\u00f5es e solu\u00e7\u00f5es. Os defensores dos jovens e as partes interessadas partilharam poss\u00edveis solu\u00e7\u00f5es para abordar a exclus\u00e3o digital de g\u00e9nero. Penso que uma das melhores recomenda\u00e7\u00f5es \u00e9 que o sector privado e as ag\u00eancias da ONU financiem adequadamente o desenvolvimento de infra-estruturas tecnol\u00f3gicas nas zonas rurais e que os governos tornem a educa\u00e7\u00e3o STEM equitativa, segura e protegida um direito para raparigas de todas as idades.<\/p>

Participar nesta reuni\u00e3o ajudou-me a aprender mais sobre as quest\u00f5es sociais actuais e como a tecnologia pode desempenhar um papel vital na capacita\u00e7\u00e3o e na cria\u00e7\u00e3o de oportunidades para raparigas e mulheres. Ouvir as vozes e os discursos poderosos inspirou-me a continuar a ajudar as mulheres e raparigas da minha comunidade como defensora da juventude. A minha mais profunda gratid\u00e3o \u00e0 ONU Mulheres que organizou um lugar seguro para jovens como eu partilharem as suas vozes e recomenda\u00e7\u00f5es para resolver o problema da exclus\u00e3o digital no mundo.<\/p>
