A pobreza \u00e9 vista como um fen\u00f3meno de g\u00e9nero com rosto feminino porque as mulheres caem primeiro na pobreza, caem mais profundamente e recuperam por \u00faltimo. Existe um ciclo vicioso de pobreza entre gera\u00e7\u00f5es entre mulheres de todas as idades, um sintoma de injusti\u00e7a sistem\u00e1tica exacerbada pelas desvantagens de ra\u00e7a, etnia, localiza\u00e7\u00e3o geogr\u00e1fica e cren\u00e7as religiosas que afectam as mulheres mental e fisicamente. As estat\u00edsticas mostraram o custo para a sociedade da inac\u00e7\u00e3o nas quest\u00f5es das raparigas adolescentes e das mulheres. A educa\u00e7\u00e3o ainda \u00e9 reconhecida como o mais poderoso equalizador e meio de transformar as rela\u00e7\u00f5es de poder. Educar as mulheres pode ter um enorme impacto econ\u00f3mico para a sociedade, financeiramente e na sa\u00fade das gera\u00e7\u00f5es futuras &#8230; \u201cO que as pessoas se tornam mais tarde na vida depende do que acontece mais cedo\u201d, disse o Secret\u00e1rio-Geral.<\/p><p>Ouvimos dizer que \u201cquebrar o fosso da pobreza\u201d exige abordar a \u201cpobreza na velhice\u201d, a configura\u00e7\u00e3o complexa e em constante mudan\u00e7a das \u201cmulheres adultas que prestam cuidados\u201d, a armadilha da \u201cm\u00e3e solteira\u201d, as mulheres com defici\u00eancias mentais e f\u00edsicas, as mulheres em rela\u00e7\u00f5es abusivas, mulheres encarceradas e mulheres e meninas que s\u00e3o v\u00edtimas de traficantes de seres humanos.<\/p><p>Os representantes dos pa\u00edses relataram que a mudan\u00e7a necess\u00e1ria para transformar radicalmente as fam\u00edlias, comunidades e pa\u00edses j\u00e1 est\u00e1 a acontecer. A aten\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e1 a ser direccionada para a institucionaliza\u00e7\u00e3o da igualdade de g\u00e9nero em \u201cparlamentos sens\u00edveis ao g\u00e9nero\u201d, a fim de incluir as mulheres na tomada de decis\u00f5es ao desenvolver pol\u00edticas e procedimentos. Defenderam a or\u00e7amenta\u00e7\u00e3o atrav\u00e9s de uma \u201cperspectiva sens\u00edvel ao g\u00e9nero\u201d e a concep\u00e7\u00e3o de modelos econ\u00f3micos que sejam sens\u00edveis ao g\u00e9nero.<\/p><p>Igualmente importante foi o reconhecimento da necessidade de conceber mecanismos para garantir a implementa\u00e7\u00e3o de leis, estabelecer \u201cmarcadores\u201d que permitam medir o progresso atrav\u00e9s da identifica\u00e7\u00e3o de sucessos, fracassos e defici\u00eancias, e conceber programas destinados a mudar mentalidades e normas sociais.<\/p><p>A Santa S\u00e9 patrocinou um poderoso workshop sobre o impacto do tr\u00e1fico de seres humanos nas mulheres e meninas. Dom Gabriele Caccia, Observador Permanente da Santa S\u00e9, falou com paix\u00e3o sobre o apelo do Papa Francisco \u201ca ouvir, ver e emocionar-se para agir\u201d. Denunciou o facto de as mulheres e as raparigas serem vistas como objectos a serem usados e descartados e referiu-se ao tr\u00e1fico como \u201ca subjuga\u00e7\u00e3o de uns para o enriquecimento de outros\u201d. Todos os apresentadores foram excelentes. Organiza\u00e7\u00f5es como o Grupo Santa Marta, ARISE, Talitha Kum, a Rede Integrada Scalabrini e o Servi\u00e7o Nacional de Pol\u00edcia da Irlanda partilharam as melhores pr\u00e1ticas e aprendizagens. Um proeminente representante de um escrit\u00f3rio de advocacia americano falou dos esfor\u00e7os para perturbar os sistemas, confiscar os rendimentos, fornecer prote\u00e7\u00e3o, acompanhamento e apoio \u00e0s v\u00edtimas e, acima de tudo, para trabalhar com a sociedade no reconhecimento e den\u00fancia de sinais desta forma de escravatura moderna.<\/p><p>Foi encorajador ver a Igreja Cat\u00f3lica assumir a lideran\u00e7a moral numa quest\u00e3o relacionada com as mulheres.<\/p><p>Esta forma de comemorar o 20<sup>\u00ba<\/sup> O anivers\u00e1rio do IBVM na ONU foi maravilhoso para mim.
