Atualmente sou estudante do Convento de Loreto Msongari e tamb\u00e9m da ONG Youth Advocate do Instituto da Bem-Aventurada Virgem Maria (IBVM). Encontrei-me na Confer\u00eancia da Sociedade Civil da ONU quando eu, juntamente com o meu amigo Keendi e a professora, Sra. Phylice Nyabate, fomos chamados pelo nosso Diretor para representar a ONG IBVM na confer\u00eancia. Fiquei muito animado por ter uma oportunidade t\u00e3o grande que mal consegui dormir naquela noite.<\/p>

Quando cheguei \u00e0 sede das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas em Gigiri, fiquei um pouco apavorado porque n\u00e3o esperava encontrar tantas pessoas na confer\u00eancia. No entanto, depois de partilhar opini\u00f5es e ver como as pessoas lutaram livremente pelos seus direitos, finalmente adaptei-me e todo o medo desapareceu. Isto realmente motivou a mim e aos meus colegas a defendermos e defendermos os nossos direitos, especialmente depois de vermos pessoas a defender corajosamente os direitos dos jovens e das gera\u00e7\u00f5es futuras. Isso me garantiu que meu futuro e o futuro de outros jovens como eu estavam seguros. Tamb\u00e9m aprendi sobre os diferentes problemas que as pessoas enfrentam em todo o mundo, o que at\u00e9 me fez chorar, especialmente a situa\u00e7\u00e3o no Congo com todo o genoc\u00eddio em curso.<\/p>

Tive a honra de participar numa reuni\u00e3o com a Diretora Executiva Adjunta da ONU Mulheres, Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda, onde discutimos alguns assuntos relativos aos problemas que as mulheres e as jovens enfrentam em todo o mundo. Pude fazer um breve discurso sobre a viol\u00eancia baseada no g\u00e9nero, onde apontei algumas das suas causas, como as cren\u00e7as culturais que fazem a maioria das mulheres sofrer em sil\u00eancio.<\/p>

Tamb\u00e9m me juntei a alguns grupos de coliga\u00e7\u00e3o. Um deles foi Direitos e Participa\u00e7\u00e3o das Crian\u00e7as, onde tivemos uma discuss\u00e3o sobre a possibilidade de as crian\u00e7as defenderem os seus direitos e n\u00e3o serem prejudicadas. Outra foi a Pol\u00edtica de Drogas para o Futuro, onde discutimos como acabar com o abuso de drogas. Percebemos que a melhor maneira de conseguir isso seria atrav\u00e9s do financiamento da educa\u00e7\u00e3o sobre os efeitos do abuso de drogas. Isso porque \u00e9 mais barato difundir a conscientiza\u00e7\u00e3o do que curar aqueles j\u00e1 afetados pelo abuso de drogas.<\/p>

O que conclu\u00ed na confer\u00eancia foi que \u201ca energia, a criatividade e o idealismo dos jovens t\u00eam o potencial para cultivar um futuro melhor\u201d. No entanto, enfrentam um cen\u00e1rio de obst\u00e1culos que amea\u00e7am o seu crescimento, especialmente no que diz respeito ao acesso a oportunidades.<\/p>

Infelizmente a confer\u00eancia teve que chegar ao fim. O Presidente do Qu\u00e9nia, Sua Excel\u00eancia William Samoei Ruto p\u00f4de assistir \u00e0 cerim\u00f3nia de encerramento onde nos agraciou com um maravilhoso discurso. Depois, tive que correr para o aeroporto para n\u00e3o perder o voo de volta para casa, pois precisava me preparar para a escola, que estava prestes a reabrir.<\/p>

Tenho o prazer de dizer com orgulho que a minha experi\u00eancia na Confer\u00eancia da Sociedade Civil da ONU foi muito boa e, sem d\u00favida, adoraria participar em outra, se tivesse oportunidade.<\/p>
