Com base em inqu\u00e9ritos aos agregados familiares em todo o mundo, os relat\u00f3rios indicam que 160 milh\u00f5es de crian\u00e7as \u2013 63 milh\u00f5es de raparigas e 97 milh\u00f5es de rapazes \u2013 estavam em trabalho infantil no in\u00edcio de 2020. De forma alarmante, quase metade de todas as pessoas em trabalho infantil estavam diretamente envolvidas em trabalhos perigosos. pondo em perigo a sua sa\u00fade, seguran\u00e7a e desenvolvimento moral.<\/p><p>Cada vez mais preocupante \u00e9 a situa\u00e7\u00e3o na \u00c1frica Subsariana, onde h\u00e1 mais crian\u00e7as em situa\u00e7\u00e3o de trabalho infantil do que no resto do mundo combinado. Outras dimens\u00f5es do perfil mundial do trabalho infantil incluem:<\/p><ul><li>O envolvimento no trabalho infantil \u00e9 maior para os meninos do que para as meninas em todas as idades (exceto quando a defini\u00e7\u00e3o de trabalho infantil se expande para incluir tarefas dom\u00e9sticas!)<\/li><li>O trabalho infantil \u00e9 muito mais comum nas \u00e1reas rurais<\/li><li>A maior parte do trabalho infantil \u2013 tanto para rapazes como para raparigas \u2013 continua a ocorrer na agricultura<\/li><li>A maior parte do trabalho infantil ocorre dentro das fam\u00edlias<\/li><\/ul><p>A crise da Covid-19 continua a aumentar o risco de trabalho infantil, exacerbado por um aumento acentuado da pobreza, aumentando a depend\u00eancia das fam\u00edlias do trabalho infantil. Como resultado da pobreza, impulsionada pela pandemia e de uma diminui\u00e7\u00e3o das medidas de protec\u00e7\u00e3o social e da monitoriza\u00e7\u00e3o no local de trabalho, uma nova an\u00e1lise sugere que mais 8,9 milh\u00f5es de crian\u00e7as estar\u00e3o em situa\u00e7\u00e3o de trabalho infantil at\u00e9 ao final de 2022.<\/p><p>O trabalho infantil est\u00e1 frequentemente associado ao facto de as crian\u00e7as estarem fora da escola. Uma grande percentagem de crian\u00e7as mais novas em situa\u00e7\u00e3o de trabalho infantil s\u00e3o exclu\u00eddas da escola, apesar de estarem dentro da faixa et\u00e1ria da escolaridade obrigat\u00f3ria. As crian\u00e7as trabalhadoras lutam para equilibrar as exig\u00eancias da escola e do trabalho ao mesmo tempo, comprometendo a sua educa\u00e7\u00e3o, o direito ao lazer e as perspectivas futuras de trabalho. Desde Mar\u00e7o de 2020, os encerramentos de escolas relacionados com a Covid negaram \u00e0s fam\u00edlias a alternativa l\u00f3gica de enviar as crian\u00e7as para trabalhar.<\/p><p>Os relat\u00f3rios da OIT e da UNICEF destacam numerosos imperativos pol\u00edticos para reduzir o trabalho infantil. De particular interesse para a nossa rede Mary Ward \u00e9 a necessidade de abordar as normas de g\u00e9nero e a discrimina\u00e7\u00e3o que aumentam os riscos do trabalho infantil, particularmente relacionados com o trabalho oculto das raparigas no trabalho dom\u00e9stico e n\u00e3o remunerado. Para al\u00e9m de medidas \u00f3bvias, como o alargamento da protec\u00e7\u00e3o social \u00e0s fam\u00edlias e a garantia de escolaridade gratuita e de boa qualidade, somos instados a abordar os riscos do trabalho infantil nas cadeias de abastecimento nacionais e globais e a estar atentos ao risco acrescido de trabalho infantil em crises e conflitos crescentes e desastres.<\/p><p>A pandemia de Covid-19 demonstra que a coopera\u00e7\u00e3o e a parceria internacionais para superar os desafios globais s\u00e3o poss\u00edveis.
