Progress Towards the Sustainable Development Goals 2025

SDG Report 2025

The Sustainable Development Goals Report 2025 is the 10th annual review of global progress toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs). With just five years left, the report shows that while millions of lives have improved since 2015, the current pace is too slow to fully achieve all Goals by 2030.

While progress has been achieved with:

  • Better access to education
  • Improved maternal and child health care
  • Significant reductions in diseases such as HIV and malaria
  • Growth in renewable energy, expanding electricity access
  • Closing of parts of the global digital divide

Ongoing challenges remain with progress uneven and fragile:

  • Inequalities persist — especially for people with disabilities and marginalized communities. In education, learning quality remain an issue and global disparities in access to health services and medicines continue.
  • Many still face extreme poverty, hunger, poor housing, and lack of basic services
  • Rising conflicts, the climate crisis, and mounting debt costs are slamming the brakes on progress with gains risk being reversed.

Sadly, thirty years since the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, gender equality remains a dream. No country has achieved gender parity and with the rate we going, it will take nearly 300 years for gender equality to be achieved.

The Report call for stronger international cooperation and sustained investment to turn the 2030 SDGs into a reality. Urgent action is needed especially in six priority areas:

  • Food systems
  • Energy access and affordability
  • Digital connectivity
  • Education
  • Jobs and Social Protection
  • Climate, biodiversity loss and pollution

Our network, with our  ministries in education, health, environment and social programs in communities to improve energy access, digital connection and provide training in income generation, are contributing towards the achievement of the SDGs. But we also need to advocate with our governments and global leaders to accelerate their efforts so that no one is left behind.
