We are pleased to share our new resources aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of the United Nations and our involvement as a NGO.
Project Overview: We have developed three lessons designed to educate students about the UN and advocacy. Each lesson is structured with comprehensive slides, making it easy to facilitate learning. These materials have been made available on our website under the ‘News and Information’ section, accessible through our ‘resource library’ and found within the ‘About the United Nations’ folder:
Lesson Details:
- Introduction to the UN and IBVM/CJ NGO: This foundational lesson provides an overview of the United Nations and introduces students to the work of the IBVM/CJ NGO.
- Understanding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): This lesson focuses on the importance and objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals, encouraging students to explore global challenges and solutions.
- Understanding Human Rights and the Beijing Declaration: The final lesson delves into human rights, specifically the rights of the child, and highlights the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. It includes a detailed focus on Section L, Working Group on Girls, and prepares students with the Conversation Circle Toolkit.
Implementation Details:
- Each lesson is designed to be completed within a lunchtime break, approximately 30 minutes in duration.
- We recommend sharing these lessons via a student club with senior students.
Please refer to our resource guide for a comprehensive explanation on how to utilize the resources effectively, along with suggestions for additional content.
