Members of the CJ network play an active role as part of Civil Society working with the United Nations (UN) in New York. As associates of the Department of Global Communications (DGC) and having a Special Consultative Status to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) we attend the Briefings held by the DGC and ECOSOC and take part in the Annual Conferences and Sessions. We submit written and oral interventions, conduct workshops and hold events during annual DGC and ECOSOC Conferences where we bring together members, colleagues and persons with experience and expertise in specific areas of Social and Sustainable Development. In the same way, the voice and experience of persons living in marginalised situations contribute to our work for a just and sustainable world.

Unsere Arbeit bei den Vereinten Nationen ist effektiver, wenn sie von den Erfahrungen der Menschen vor Ort geprägt ist. Die CJ Province UN Representatives serve as the contact persons for their provinces and provide critical links for communication between the representatives in New York and the entire CJ network.

Zusammen mit dem CJ Anti-Human Trafficking Network and social development programmes, they inform the advocacy work of the IBVM NGO at the UN. These networks consist of CJ members and colleagues who are: working on the ground to eradicate Human Trafficking in Persons, supporting survivors of this crime, living and ministering in communities and educating in our schools in over 40 countries.
